Gunshots and Gunning Jet Skis

October 2009

Fishermen reported to Save Radley Lakes that they were intimidated by men who had gained access to what is called "Lake G" of the Radley Lakes Complex, and were shooting at the wildfowl which have come to regard the area as a safe haven from predators.

Sadly, they managed to kill one bird between them, and one wonders at the mentality of such individuals who can come to a County Wildlife Site and take potshots to kill wildlife, dangerously near where the public roam, for their own personal gratification.

If you see this sort of behaviour, please call the Police - dial 999 and say "Crime in Progress".  There are laws governing the use of firearms, even on private land, where the public has access nearby and there are laws about killing wildlife gratuitously.  There were several protected species on Lake J, which have now gone because of the mindless antics of these hooligan Wyatt Twerps.

Then someone on a Jet Ski broke into Sandles and started roaring round Thrupp Lake, scaring the wildlife and shattering the peace of the area.

The Police have been informed about these incidents and will respond if future activities are reported.
