US IN OUR PRESERVATION OF THE RADLEY LAKES!
One of our members mounted
a campaign to have the area turned into a "Town Green".
Oxfordshire County Council agreed to hold a public inquiry which
started on 2nd April 2007 and adjourned on the 5th because it ran
out of time. After reconvening, the result was promised in
August 2007, but finally arrived in October. The Inspector
decided that people using the area did so because they "strayed
off the footpath" and that did not make it a "Town Green".
Council mounted a challenge to this decision. In March 2009,
the Parish Council withdrew the Judicial Review Application because
NPower had given assurances that the area would not ever be used
for ash disposal and Northmoor Trust were to take over the management
of the area, creating an educational centre and public access would
We have won the security
of the lakes and raised thousands to pay the legal bills.
We felt it was a campaign worth starting and despite the feelings
from people that we would never win, a core of dedicated supporters
have followed their instincts and have saved Thrupp and Bullfield
The next step is to work with the
Northmoor Trust to see the vision they have outlined turned into
