Community Build Shelter
at Thrupp Lake
18th August 2010
A cool day was just right for the community to come together on Wednesday 18th August to help put the shingles on the new shelter which in the first place will help support people working on the site, but later will be part of the attractions at the new Environmental Centre still to come.
Sixty people turned up over the course of the morning to lend a hand. The Contractors had already laid the concrete base and had installed the ribs of the structure, which resembled a yurt and which soon took shape as the community came together to put the shingles on. A great deal of fun and laughter could be heard as the job got under way.
It was great to see so many people wanting to help. The next working party on the 27th August will be painting the gate at the front of the building.
The next working party dates are:
Friday 27th August 2010
Friday 8th October 2010
Friday 19th November 2010
