One of our members mounted a campaign to have the area turned into a "Town Green". Oxfordshire County Council agreed to hold a public inquiry which started on 2nd April 2007 and adjourned on the 5th because it ran out of time.  After reconvening, the result was promised in August 2007, but finally arrived in October.  The Inspector decided that people using the area did so because they "strayed off the footpath" and that did not make it a "Town Green".

Radley Parish Council mounted a challenge to this decision.  In March 2009, the Parish Council withdrew the Judicial Review Application because NPower had given assurances that the area would not ever be used for ash disposal and Northmoor Trust were to take over the management of the area, creating an educational centre and public access would be allowed.

We have won the security of the lakes and raised thousands to pay the legal bills.  We felt it was a campaign worth starting and despite the feelings from people that we would never win, a core of dedicated supporters have followed their instincts and have saved Thrupp and Bullfield Lakes.

The next step is to work with the Northmoor Trust to see the vision they have outlined turned into a reality.  If you would like to help the campaign please contact us
